Let’s all stop for a quiet second of compassion for young male instructors in all-girls highest education. Theirs is actually a painful task.
But that feeling of the young male instructor’s plight is the one clear feeling I’ve gathered from a decidedly unscientific study recently i completed of fifty of my personal former children, babes we educated once they had been juniors or seniors at an exclusive, all-girls high-school outside Boston, that recently i retired. We contacted these young women, every one of them now college students or recent university graduates, to obtain a feeling of how they sensed their own men and women coaches in highschool.
I asked each of my personal previous college students if she’d tell me just how she considered her female and male instructors (not individually, by-name, but as genders). I composed to each of them:
